New travel restrictions stop Leopard Creek event

The 2021 Alfred Dunhill Championship at Leopard Creek has unfortunately been cancelled following news that South Africa has been placed on the travel red list of several countries, after concerns about the emergence of a new COVID-19 variant in the country.

The Sunshine Tour and DP World Tour today announced changes to their co-sanctioned schedule of tournaments in South Africa, including the cancellation of the flagship Alfred Dunhill Championship, scheduled for December 9-12 at one of golf’s most iconic venues.

The decision was taken after consultation with the tours and Alfred Dunhill, because of the adverse affect the travel restrictions would have on the participation of professional golfers.
