Norris wins to book ticket to The Open

Former Alfred Dunhill Championship winner Shaun Norris booked his place in this year’s Open Championship with his victory in the Gate Way to The Open Mizuno Open on the Japan Golf Tour this past weekend.

The winner of the 2024 Alfred Dunhill Championship claimed his ninth victory on the Japan Golf Tour to also give him the most wins by a South African golfer on this Tour.

He now joins fellow South Africans Ernie Els, Michael Hollick, Casey Jarvis, Louis Oosthuizen and amateur Jack Buchanan as players who are currently exempt for the 154th Open at Royal Birkdale this July.

Buchanan qualified by virtue of his victory in the 2026 Africa Amateur Championship.
